One thing about the area in which I live is that the traffic is not all that bad on a good day. But there are times when it seems to be backed up for little or no reason. Today was one of those days. I was riding to work when I ran into a giant traffic jam. It tried my patience for sure.

The worst part about the whole experience is that I saw no reason for the pileup in the first place. Maybe the accident was cleared before I got there or the emergency was over with. Whatever the reason, I was still stuck. Some things just don’t make any sense.

There has been some debate over the recent government run program called “Cash for Clunkers”. The program allowed consumers to buy new vehicles and get a rebate of $4,500 dollars to do so. The program was intended to help the ailing auto industry and to help get the economy moving again. Some critics think it was a waste of money.

There are studies that argue that the program which cost U.S. taxpayers 3 billion dollars did little to help the economy. There are some estimates that each car sold cost the taxpayers well more than the 4,500 dollar rebate. The White House has defended the program saying that they stand by their numbers and that the program was a success. I guess only time will tell who was right or not.

After a wonderful morning of relaxation, I decided to return to normal life and begin to get some things done. One area that I wanted to cover this weekend was to begin to put my car to rights. I use my car every day and it was beginning to show signs of wear and tear. I knew that it was time to give it a good cleaning and check up so as to prevent any unfortunate experiences.

I got out the vacuum and gave the carpet a good cleaning. I disposed of all the junk and trash and got the insides looking ok. I also washed all the windows on the car and was surprised to notice that I could now see out of them. I had my husband check the engine and he put in a little oil and gave it his ok. I am glad to say that my car should continue to give good service for awhile longer!

Since the weather has been so hot lately, the lack of air conditioning in my car has really shown. I’ve been meaning to get it fixed, but for one reason or another haven’t done so. I took care of that problem as I found a way to get the Mitsubishi ac compressor I needed at a reasonable price. All I did was go to a site called discountacparts.com. They had the hard to find air conditioning compressor I needed.

Now that my new a/c compressor is installed, my car is nice and cool when I drive home from work. It’s a wonderful feeling to know that I don’t have to worry about getting hot every time I go somewhere. I’m glad I found the part I needed!

One thing that I really feel strongly about is people who talk on their cell phones in the car. I think it is a very dangerous practice and I wish people would not do so. I have personally witnessed many near accidents that I feel were the result of distracted drivers.

I think the government should step in and give extra punishment to those people who are in an accident that may have been caused by being on the phone. I wish that these people would just pull over and finish their call! I’ll be glad when this problem is finally addressed.

Every year when summer rolls around, we always are sure to use the air-conditioner in our car. One of the problems that we had encountered was that our car is a diesel. This makes it difficult to find readily available parts sometimes. We were fortunate to find a solution to that problem.

After searching around for a long time, we were able to find the diesel fuel pump we needed. It was on a website called dieselpartspros.com. They had a wide selection of parts and had just the one we needed. I was glad to have a warranty as well. I knew I had found a winning company when I called them on the phone. They were courteous and very knowledgeable. I am always glad to report on good companies!

With only about nine flights scheduled before the space shuttles are retired, there is still some work to do. The shuttle Endeavour is being prepared for a rescue mission. Concerns that the shuttle Atlantis may find trouble has led NASA to prepare for an emergency rescue mission if needed. I’m sure we all remember what happened to the shuttle Columbia which ended the lives of seven astronauts.

I hope the mission is not needed, but I’m glad we are prepared just in case. I believe the space program is important and will lead to new discoveries on earth as well as in space. Good luck to crews of these missions!

Heaven does not have red lights! I made a trip today to run an errand. It should have been a short trip, but it took much longer than I expected. I needed to go up Princess Ann. road. It has an unusual amount of lights. I must admit that I was getting frustrated as every light was red!

It does not make any sense to me. We stopped at a red light and went when it turned green. I could see the green light in the distance, but when we arrived there, it was red!

It was so maddening… I wonder who programs these lights. They really need to find a way to fix this problem!!

I drove my daughter up to the school on Friday to see the big game at the stadium. GO RAIDER’S!! As we were leaving the parking lot, the police had traffic cones out and were directing traffic. When I got to the front of the line the officer directed me to the right. I rolled down the window and told the officer that I didn’t want to turn right; I wanted to turn left as that’s the direction I lived. He insisted that they were not letting people turn left and that I must go right.

I’ve been turning left here for years and it’s never been a problem before, why is it a problem now? He had no answer for me but still insisted I turn right. We argued further but in the end I had no choice. “That’s B***S***” I said as I drove off.

Is this what I pay taxes for??

One of the great things about the internet is how much time you can save. My boyfriend’s car went out and he needed to fix it quick. The local dealer didn’t have the A/C Compressor we needed. Luckily, we found a website called buyautoparts.com. I liked the way it worked. You just click on the make and model of the car and the part pops up.

The price seemed to be inline with most wholesalers’ prices, and we got free shipping since our order was over $50 dollars. I wasn’t too worried because the parts come with a full warranty. Anytime I need car parts, this is where I go. I glad it was so fast as I’ve been very busy as of late. Sometimes I really like the internet!
