Hello friend!
Thursday, April 23rd, 2009 | Author:

The pond behind our house is full of wildlife. We have birds and ducks and the fish jump every night. I spotted some new friends in the turtles. They like to warm in the sun and float in the water with their heads sticking out. I was able to feed one of the turtles some bread. They are very cautious so you must be still.

I like the fact that we have so many things living in our yard. I hope to teach the kids about the value of wildlife and the beauty of nature. Watching these beautiful creatures is a great way to do just that! I am glad to welcome my new friends the turtles!

Keep Out!

I have a lot of posts about the outdoors. It’s true that for the most part, I like animals of all shapes and sizes. There is one exception though, the squirrel. I don’t mind the squirrels in and of themselves, but they cause a lot of problems. They have gotten into eating my bird food. Every morning I see them hanging about and making a racket! That’s just the beginning of the problems they have caused.

One day, my daughter heard a strange noise. It appeared to be coming from the attic. She was a little spooked and wanted me to check it out. Being the man of the family, I had to comply. I took my flashlight up through the hatch and had a look. To my surprise, I saw a squirrel! That was the last straw. I knew I would have to find a way to rid myself of these pests.

I called a friend and asked for some advice. He told me to look into getting some squirrel repellant. I went online and found a company called Havahart that had just what I needed. My pesky problem is no more! Now that I have defended my home by using the product in places the squirrels are likely to go, I no longer have to worry. Now my house is peaceful again. I’m glad to let the outdoor animals stay outdoors!

Good Girl!

My neighbor down the street has a beautiful dog. The dog’s name is pearl and she is a German Sheppard. The problem with the dog is that she is usually out of control. I watch as my neighbor gets dragged down the street by the dog. No amount of yelling or coercion seems to have any effect at all. The dog does only what the dog wants to do!

One day I happened to be out when they were walking by. We fell into a conversation and discussed some of the things she was doing to train the dog. I told her that I had seen an ad for a website called dogfather.tv. About two weeks later, I had a chance to talk with her again. The dog was behaving noticeably better. My neighbor had gotten the Best dog training video. After reviewing it, she started using the techniques in the video and now she is satisfied with the results.

I am glad that things are better now for the family and the dog. I am also glad for my cat that I used to worry about being harmed by the out of control animal! Our neighborhood is a lot more peaceful now that the animals are better trained.

Wet feet

It’s another rainy day. Whenever I wake up and it’s raining, I always feel like staying in bed. It always seems so quiet. I’d much rather see the sun shining through the window and welcoming me to the new day.

For now, I guess I’ll have to live with it, but I’ll sure be glad when the sun comes back! I think the cats like the sun as well. They don’t seem to like the rain very much. They are so funny when their paws get wet!

Bad table manners…

As mentioned before, I had begun to feed the ducks in the pond behind our house. As it happened, I was at the pet store and saw a cute little bird feeder. A few dollars later, I hung the feeder in the little tree out back.

What a ruckus they make!! I watch from the house as the birds chase each other all around and squabble over every crumb. The smart ones wait on the ground for the scraps to fall and avoid the competition.

That reminds me, its time to feed the kids!
