Cabo Here We Come!
Thursday, April 28th, 2011 | Author:

Thanks for the guest post by Bradly Watkins

Vacation is coming up soon! I’m a teacher and spring break is just around the corner and a few of my teacher friends and I are planning a trip to Cabo San Lucas!

I couldn’t be more excited, though I’ve been tasked with planning the whole trip, which is not my cup of tea. Thankfully I’ve got clearwirewimax4g so I can access the internet on my breaks at school, so I’ve ended up catching a couple of great sales that only lasted for a short time.

We’re in the market for an all inclusive resort and there are tons of options down there. All I really require is a place to lie on the beach in the sun and somewhere that serves delicious seafood – I have a feeling that won’t be too hard to find! My friends really want to schedule some adventures like zip lining or an ATV excursion but I would be just as happy in a hammock on the beach. Since I’m planning, it looks like my preferences are going to win out!

Earthquakes in Arkansas
Saturday, February 26th, 2011 | Author:

There have been a number of earthquakes in the state of Arkansas lately. The question has been what the cause of them was. Some believe the quakes are part of what is called a swarm and are naturally occurring. Others believe the cause is much more sinister.

Some scientists believe the quakes are being caused by natural gas drilling. The process is called “fracking” in which water is forced into the ground in order to extract the gas underground. A halt in fracking has been called until the issue can be studied further.

Snowbound
Saturday, January 30th, 2010 | Author:

The weather today is easy to see. All you have to do is look outside and you can see that it is snowing. It started early this morning and doesn’t seem to be letting up. There is already an inch or two on the ground with more coming. The wind is pretty high today and this is blowing the snow around and making it very cold. I am looking forward to spring and an end to this weather!

A different kind of shower
Monday, November 16th, 2009 | Author:

I was kind of looking forward to seeing one of the rare but beautiful sights in the world. The Leonid meteor shower is due to peak in the early hours of Tuesday morning. People in Asia will have some of the best views of this annual event, but Americans will still get a pretty good show.

The comet Tempel-Tuttle will streak by in its 33 year orbit around the sun. The trail of debris it leaves behind becomes the best show in town. Be sure to find an area where there are few lights as they can interfere with the view. I hope to see you out early watching the show!

Microwave ovens
Monday, September 07th, 2009 | Author:

There has been some debate over the heating of plastics in the microwave oven. Scientists say that heating plastics may lead to the release of a poison called Bisphenol A that can cause harm the human body. Even though some plastics may be labeled as “Microwave safe”, that may not be the case. Small traces can still be found. As a preventative measure, always use ceramics or glass in the microwave.
