Summer heat

This summer has been fairly hot. The heat has caused me to look for ways to stay cool. One thing I have been doing is going for a swim at the beach. I enjoy the water and it’s been fun to spend a little time with the kids. They enjoy the beach as much as I.

I am looking forward to the cooler weather that is on the way. I like the winter just as much as the summer. I guess when winter comes I’ll be wishing for summer again. I guess that’s always the way it goes!

Grey’s Anatomy = Best Drama Series

Grey’s Anatomy is on hiatus for the summer, and boy do I miss it! It’s easily my favorite drama series. I know that it has a reputation for being over the top at times. (The Izzie/Denny ghost sex was way too much in season five!) But when Grey’s is at its best, it’s one of TV’s most entertaining shows. I’ve never missed an episode, and I watch it on my satellite TV I got after researching direct tv prices near Miami.

I was hooked on the series from the start. My favorite character is Christina Yang, a smart, competitive jerk who dedicates her entire life and energy to being the best surgical resident at the fictitious Seattle Grace Hospital. Chris’s best friend is Meredith Grey, the lead character. They have a strong bond that is cemented in the fact that they are both passionate doctors and overly eager to get in on any surgery that passes through the hospital’s doors. I love that they are fiercely loyal to one another, and they always act as each other’s crying shoulder.

In last season’s finale, Meredith’s husband was almost killed by an enraged shooter who was loose in the hospital. Several of the show’s characters died, though none of the main characters obtained a fatal injury. I can’t wait to see where everyone stands when the show returns for season seven.

Beware of everything today! Today is April Fools’ Day and we must all be alert of the constant danger of practical jokes. While I don’t personally do too many jokes on people, (I think it’s a little rude) I have been known to enjoy the results of someone else’s efforts. I just hope that I can stay out of the cross hairs of any would be jokers today!

Since the weather is turning nice, my cats have been begging to go out every night. While I don’t mind that they do, I just wish they would come home at an earlier hour! I had to stay up a little later than I wanted waiting for them to come home. I could never sleep unless I knew they were safe.

My cats do provide our family with a lot of entertainment. They can be very funny at times especially when they have a box to play with. They also like to chase a string or a ball. Sometimes they will come and snuggle with me on the couch. I’m glad I have my pets to play with!

Jazzercise

One thing that I have recently found out about is jazzercise. I always thought it was for really overweight people and never thought I would participate myself. It just so happens that one of the girls from work talked me into going with her and I must admit that I had a great time.

It felt good to really work up a sweat. I didn’t realize how much work it was. It looks easy and it is, but in the end you can really end up sore. Anyway, I met a lot of people and the whole thing was a blast. I think I’ll start going on a regular basis.

Phone calls

Its funny how a simple phone call can turn into a two or three hour ordeal. I recently called my sister to ask a simple question and two hours later I was still on the phone. The funny thing is that we really didn’t talk about anything in particular; we just tend to ramble on.

We always trade the latest news and somehow it turns into gossip. We are not mean, but we do talk. Anyway, I see that I write like I talk and I guess I’ll try to keep it short. I just wanted to let you know in case you call me.

Working hard

One thing that has been on my mind lately is a test I have to take for work. I have been studying every night for about an hour in hopes of passing the test. I have only another week to study and so I cannot put it off any longer. I must say that it has become a bit of a strain and my nerves are getting raw! I’ll sure be glad when the test is over and I can finally relax.

Hearts and Haiti

My heart goes out to the thousands of victims of the recent Haiti earthquake. We heard news today that the death toll has risen to over 200,000. I find it difficult to fathom the depth of the suffering that is going on in that country. I know that their time of need is now and I hope that everyone will respond.

I believe that if everyone gives just a few dollars, we can make a huge difference for the survivors of this terrible tragedy. I know there are many stories of how the relief effort has been failing, but I believe that it is still doing a lot of good. I implore everyone to keep giving whatever they can to this cause.

Snowbound

The weather today is easy to see. All you have to do is look outside and you can see that it is snowing. It started early this morning and doesn’t seem to be letting up. There is already an inch or two on the ground with more coming. The wind is pretty high today and this is blowing the snow around and making it very cold. I am looking forward to spring and an end to this weather!

Canada

It seems that Canada has become the newest hotspot for the illegal drug trade. Groups such as the Hells Angels are running the trade from Canada to America. A wide variety of drugs are being smuggled across the border including Marijuana, cocaine, and ecstasy.

The smugglers are taking advantage of the use of helicopters to bring in the drugs. The ability of copters to avoid radar and hug the ground has made it the vehicle of choice for smugglers. I hope we can find a way to crack down on this illegal trade.
