Summer Nights
Saturday, April 04th, 2009 | Author:

Since the weather is about to turn nice again, I was thinking about my bike. I love to ride my bike on a hot summer night. The wind blowing through your hair and the freedom it provides. One thing I like to do is to stay in touch with other people in the motorcycle community. It’s great to find people with similar interests.

The best thing about riding is the people you meet. Many different people make up the cruiser community. They all have their own stories to tell and have as many different bikes as there are people. There is always something new you can learn and the ability to stay in touch with other people is great!

Skipping School
Saturday, April 04th, 2009 | Author:

The school called today wondering why my son was not there. Knowing I had dropped him off at the bus stop, I wondered the same thing! Turns out, he had spent the day over at this girl’s house playing video games while she had skipped school too. After informing his father of the situation and getting a response of “its no big deal” and “every boy skips school sometime” I knew I would have to handle it myself!

Well, you can believe that I made it abundantly clear that he was not to hang around that girl anymore (she has been in trouble numerous times for different things) and that furthermore he would be restricted to the house for two weeks in addition to the detention he received from school. I am going to have to keep a closer eye on that boy!!

Paying Online

My brother can be very hard to buy for. He has just about everything you can imagine. Since his birthday is coming up, I decided to get him a subscription card to the World of War craft game he plays.

I was able to find a store online that sells the wow game time code. That way, he can have immediate access to play the game. It’s a really great deal and you don’t have to wait in line. I’m sure he will enjoy our gift and I hope he will!

All Together Now

Stand at the left side of my house and walk ten paces and you will smack into my neighbor’s house. Start at the right side and walk ten paces, you’ll run straight into my other neighbor’s house. Look out the back window and you will see what Joe and barb are grilling for dinner. When I go out to get the paper from the driveway, there’s a wide variety of sights to see. I can sneak a peek at who’s in the pool of the corner house, glance at the dog locked in his kennel by the garage across the street, or give a friendly wave to the newlyweds who are incessantly fighting.
Isn’t America great! Here we are, all the people cozy as peas in a pod.

I often have occasion to see them come and see them go as I wander out to grab a smoke. The dog-walkers, joggers, and mailbox checkers, not to mention the little kids with their big wheels, the medium kids on bikes, and the older kids who walk around like a pack of hyenas. This neighborhood is busier than Central Station. And to think we moved out to the suburbs to get away from the big-city crowd. I guess our land is filling up. Gone are the days of wide-open spaces and green pastures. Gone are the forests but for one tree in each yard. Gone are the days when you could own all the land as far as you could see. Gone are the days…
Like the sign says “give us your huddled masses” well, they’re here.

Safety First
Saturday, April 04th, 2009 | Author:

With three kids in the house, it’s natural that I worry about their safety. I like for them to wear a helmet when riding their bikes and don’t let them out after dark without supervision. Even though they are fairly old now, there still is always the chance that someone may try to take advantage of them. Especially the girls!

The girls are very trusting of people and that’s basically a good thing. I don’t want them to grow up to be jaded. Most people are basically good and will help a kid in trouble. There are some though who will not. One of the good things that I found online was a site to Track Local Sex Offenders. This is a great tool in the battle to keep my kids safe. It’s called tracksexoffenders.net.

I like to have the ability to find out who has shown that they may be a potential threat to the safety of my children. We live in a good neighborhood, but you can never tell who is lurking there. With this site however, I can search our locality and find pictures of the people to look out for. I recommend that all parents check out this site from time to time and keep track of who’s around our kids. I certainly hope that people will take this issue seriously and put safety first!
