Across the street…
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 | Author:

Mrs. Henderson lives across the street from us. She is one of the kindest people that you’ll ever meet. She has watched the kids for me on occasion and is always ready with great advice. I was used to seeing her out in her yard on occasion, but noticed that I hadn’t seen her in awhile. I had a chance to see her the other day and was dismayed to hear she is having a lot of trouble getting around.

We talked about the problems she was having with her legs and what the doctors were saying. There doesn’t seem to be a quick fix for her ailment and she needs something to fill the gap. It’s entirely possible that she will be riding in one of those scooters soon. While I am not thrilled at the news, I am glad she will still be able to get around on her own. I really hope she will be back on her feet soon!

Good Morning Coffee
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 | Author:

On the whole, I don’t spend a lot of money on myself. One of the things I do spoil myself with is coffee. I have gotten used to having fresh roasted coffee every morning. The instant coffee just doesn’t cut it anymore. Each night I grind the beans and load the coffee maker for the morning. Once the timer is set, I go to bed with the knowledge that there will be the wonderful smell of brewing coffee to greet me when I awake.

Early in the morning is usually one of the few times I have to myself during the busy day. I can take a few minutes to wake up and coffee gives me that little boost that helps get me started. It may seem like a little thing, but to me it makes all the difference in the world!

My friend Dana called me the other day. She was asking a lot of questions about how to start a website. I really like Dana, but I must admit that she is “Technically challenged”. (Sorry if you read this D) Anyway, I was on the phone for quite awhile explaining some of the things she needed to do.

One of the first things I explained was that she would need someone to host her website. I took her to a page, webhostinggeeks.com where she would be able to review all the companies that were available. The geeks are really into webhosting and can help make her decision easier, by reviewing and rating the providers for her. Dana said she would look into it and she called me back today. She is now the proud owner of her own page!

Pizza night
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 | Author:

Once a week or so I’ll swing by and pick up a pizza for dinner. Some days I just don’t want to deal with cooking and pizza gives me a much needed break. I usually have a coupon that I get in the mail to save a buck or two.

What kind of pizza to get is another question entirely! Kyle likes pepperoni while Sarah can’t stand it. I can eat just about any kind of pizza so I usually end up getting two mediums, one with pepperoni and one with sausage. That way, the kids are happy and I get the best of both worlds!

At the end of the road

Since my father is long since retired and living out in the country, we like to visit him on occasion. It’s a good place to relax and enjoy the country sights and sounds. Wanting to bring him a gift, we were looking at buying him one of the premium Whitehall mailboxes. We thought it would be a great gift as we wanted to get him something nice that he could use.

One of the benefits of country living is that there are no homeowner associations. This is nice because if he decides to put up a shed or have giant pink flamingos in his front yard, there is no one to say he can’t. Knowing that we had a lot of leeway to choose something out of the ordinary, we decided to look into getting him one of those custom mailboxes. With the ability to select just about anything we desired, we knew we were onto something special.

We talked about the many options we had in selecting the pattern we would use. We were sure that we would choose something with an animal theme to fit the country atmosphere. The latest craze for personalized mailboxes infected us as well and we all pitched in the ideas that we had. We were finally able to come to an agreement and were delighted to know my father loved our choice.
