Nutrition

While I do cook on a semi-regular basis, there are many nights when the kids eat fast food or pizza. I worry that they aren’t getting the nutrition they need and that they are unnecessarily gaining weight. Since Kyle is on the heavy side and his doctor recommended that I place him on a diet, I was looking for food products that will help the situation.

Since I was not satisfied with the things I found in the stores, I went online and found a place where we can get food and vitamins especially designed for people like my son. Its called Bariatric Advantage, they have free sample offers, lots of new products, and a free catalog. Since I’ve started using this site, Kyle looks and feels so much better! Now, I think I’ll look around for a few things for myself!

Bikes

I’m drowning in bikes!! Our garage is full of them. You can’t do anything in the garage without moving one. We have some that are hanging down from the ceiling and some that are stashed away in the corner. Kyle’s bike is always in the way as he leaves it wherever he feels like and apparently doesn’t know what a kickstand is for!

After checking them out, we see that half the bikes don’t even work anymore! Ones missing a pedal, another has flat tires, and another doesn’t even have a chain! We have one bike that nobody even knows whose it is or where it came from!!

I think it’s time we made a trip up to the Goodwill store and let them figure out what to do with them all. The next time I ask what someone wants for their birthday, woe to the kid who answers “A new bike”!!

Upgrading…

When we first purchased our house, we had to take some stop-gap measures to make the house livable. Due to the costs of moving and such, we had to find some stuff for free or at very low cost. One of the things that we needed but didn’t have was ceiling fans. I think we had three, but needed two more. We had found one for free off of Craig’s list, and my brother gave us an old one that he had.

Now that we have settled in and have some extra cash, we were looking into replacing those fans with something that matches the style of our house. For the living room, I was thinking that I need something traditional like one of those Ellington ceiling fans. Just about any one of those would fit in nicely with what we have. I’ll be glad to be rid of the one that’s up there now!

Down in the basement is a whole other story. My boyfriend has been working on his game room. He has a big TV set up for video games, a pinball machine, and a ping-pong table. Finding a fan that will fit in with that is a little bit trickier, but I think we have found a solution for that. We were looking at the Monte Carlo fans. We were interested in the fans called the Mach One and the Mach Two. They remind me of airplane propellers and have a game room type feel. The kids like the way they look, especially Kyle. Now that we have got that settled, I’ll have to think up our next project!
