Ladders…

Throughout the years, I’ve always prided myself that I can do anything a man can do. When you talk about the battle of the sexes, I’m right there with you. I can mow the lawn and I can chop wood. The one thing I will not do is to climb a ladder! A stepstool I can handle. A ladder, no way!! You can say that I have set women back a hundred years. I don’t care! There’s no way I’m climbing that thing!

When I was young, my dad was always trying to get me to try new things. He tried to get me on a ladder many times. After refusing multiple times, I finally went up one. Of course the first thing I did was fall off. Luckily, I didn’t break any bones, but I was badly shaken up and it only served to reinforce my fear of ladders. Anyway, that’s all I have to say about that!

Living in the outback

During the summer months our backyard is the focal point of our family and serves many different uses. My daughters and I like to lie out in the sun and catch a few rays. In the mean time, my boyfriend and Kyle prefer to lay in their hammocks that they have strung between the trees in the shade. We all enjoy a pleasant summer day, especially when there are not a lot of bugs out.

With winter waning and the arrival of spring, I’ve begun to think about putting our backyard back into shape. At the end of last summer, we just kind of threw everything into the shed and forgot about it. I remembered that I need to check out the cushions that we use on our outdoor furniture. They were getting a little ratty and may need to be replaced. The shed is also a mess and I will have to get it cleaned up soon. There’s always something that needs doing outback.

Last year, I planted a lot of vegetables. The tomatoes did well and at one point I had enough to give some away. The corn was growing nicely, but the wind ended up knocking them about so much that in the end, they did not do all that well.
We still have some plastic leftover from last year and my hoses are still good, but I may need to replace some of my garden tools. They took a beating last year, but were well used. I need to start planning what I am going to plant this year, it’s almost time to get started!

With three kids in the house, most parents would understand how many times you may have occasion to make the comment “Close the door, were you born in a barn?” As I had gone to feed the dog, I had inadvertently left the door open. I was busted!! The kids jumped around with glee pointing their fingers and shouting “Were you born in a barn?” Were you born in a barn?”

I think they get that from their father!

A little extra…

One thing I’m good at is finding ways to spend my money. There is always something I can use to fix up the house, take care of what we have, or make our lives a little better. The kids are a money pit in and among themselves. These days, you have to be creative in finding new ways to make some extra cash. One good way I’ve found is to do online trading. This is wonderful as I can do it from home in my spare time.

Taking advantage of the fact that I have a computer and a little knowledge of stock trading, I put the two together and have been very happy with the results I’ve gotten so far. Please be aware that before you start on such an endeavor, it is wise to learn the basics about the business before you invest your life savings into icebergs!

The first thing you should do is find a good online broker. It has to be someone you can trust, someone who provides many services, and someone who has great security measures in place to protect your money. The one I use is firstrade. They have provided me with all of the above since I started trading, and they haven’t let me down yet.
When first starting out, I took advantage of their online tutorials which were easy to use and gave me a solid base to work from. Now that I have doing it for awhile, I am so glad I am able to provide a little extra for my family and my future.

Spackle and Paint…

Over the years, our house has begun to “settle”. This has caused some cracks to appear in our walls. Mostly they are around the doorways. It hasn’t been a great concern, but it is a little unsightly. Deciding to tackle the problem head on, I found an old can of spackle in the garage and “Let it rip”. I filled in the cracks by applying the spackle with a sponge.
I let it dry for a day and painted it over being careful to blend it in.

It looks so much better now! It’s amazing how simple it is to fix some of the problems around the house. All it takes is a little know how and a desire to stop procrastinating and get the job done. Wonder Woman strikes again!!
