Snow made ice cream
Tuesday, February 10th, 2009 | Author:

I found this great recipe for snow made ice cream on the Internet. Luckily, the weather cooperated and the kids and I had a lot of fun doing it together. All you need is:
One gallon snow
1 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 cups milk
Directions
When it starts to snow, place a large, clean bowl outside to collect the flakes. When full, stir in sugar and vanilla to taste, then stir in just enough milk for the desired consistency. Serve at once.

For maximum enjoyment, add a couple of kids!
Enjoy!!

The other day I went to Home Depot to get a caulk gun. The shingles around our chimney have a small leak and are in need of repair.

Feeling kind of patriotic due to the fact that so many Americans were losing their jobs, I had resolved in my mind to buy a caulk gun made in America. There was a wide variety of caulk guns to choose from, but all were made in China.

Down, but not out, I headed home and went straight to my computer. After searching a “made in USA website”, I only got “no results found.” the more I searched, the madder I got. Time after time, “no results found”.

Finally, I had to smile. The result of my search certainly reminded me of all the good work our congress has done to keep American jobs in America. No results found…

Groundhogs Know More than the Weatherman
Monday, February 02nd, 2009 | Author:

The Groundhog has been predicting the coming of Spring for about 100 years and has been right almost 80% of the time. That’s a better record than the weatherman on our local TV channel.

This year the Groundhog says that we will have an early Spring. That would be great – I’ve had enough of the cold weather and dark, dreary days. We didn’t have much snow or ice, but we sure have had plenty of rain. I’m ready for some sunshine and weather warm enough to not need a coat or jacket. Actually, as far as I’m concerned, let’s bring on the beach weather!
