When I woke up that morning, I had no intention of getting a cat. It was time for my “then” boyfriend to take his dog in for shots and general checkup. While we were there, I noticed a beautiful little kitten in a cage by the door. As I was making a fuss over it the lady told me it was up for adoption.

After a mountain of paperwork and several hundred dollars, I brought my little kitty home. I named him “minksy” because his fur is solid black. He is such a little darling!

No one has ever accused any of the men in my life of being overly romantic! Oh sure I get a card and some flowers on Valentines’ day or a night out on an anniversary, But it’s so rare to receive anything at other times.

He warmed up my car!! Right out of the blue, he just did it! I didn’t ask him to or anything. Way to go guy!! Maybe I’ll warm him up later!

I like having a birthday in January. Christmas is over and no one has to rush around shopping and getting ready for a house full of relatives. The weather usually stinks, so people are anxious for an excuse to have a party or any kind of celebration. So besides the Super Bowl and President’s Day, we have my birthday!

OK – that’s not a typo. I know the saying is to be ringing in the New Year. But this year we were singing the New Year. We went to a small party at a good friend’s house and had a blast. They had a karaoke machine and after a couple of beers we were not shy about singing our favorite songs. Some of us even had some talent!
